Abstract

Background: Oral cancers are frequently diagnosed late, leading to poor outcomes.1 Locoregional recurrence is a major cause of mortality.2 Standard diagnostic practices like biopsy and histopathology3 are insufficient for mass screening for early detection and recurrence prediction. Rapid, minimally invasive methods for early detection and predicting recurrence are warranted.

Materials and Methods: This study aimed to evaluate serum Raman spectroscopy for identifying individuals at risk of oral cancer recurrence. Additionally, it explored the efficacy of serum and salivary Raman spectroscopy in distinguishing oral premalignant diseases (OPMDs). The potential of Raman spectroscopy in urine samples for oral cancer detection was also investigated.
